JENNA'S TRIPLE BOGEY KNOCKS HER BACK TO
JOINT 19TH IN EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIP
Scottish champion Jenna Wilson repeated her opening round of 74 but dropped down to a share of 19th place in a field of 144 for the European women's individual amateur stroke-play championship over 72 holes at Golf National Club near Paris today (Thursday).
Strathaven's Jenna had a triple bogey 8 at the ninth in halves of 41 and 33. She had birdies at the 10th, 16th and 17th in her bogey-free recovery run from the turn.
Gemma Webster (Hilton Park) had an 80 for 156. She was going quite well with 38 to the turn but had double bogeys 6 and 7 at the 12th and 18th respectively for 42 home.
Claire-Marie Carlton (Stirling University) had an 80 for 161 - two shots ahead of Kylie Walker who shaved 11 shots off her first round with a second-day 77 (37-40). It could have been even better but for a double-bogey 6 at the 15th.
Spain have taken command at the top of the leaderboard with 36 holes to go. Carlota Ciganda, the brilliant teenager who won the British women's open amateur title at Alwoodley in June, leads with a pair of 70s for four-under-par 140. Compatriot Emma Cabrera is lying second with two 71s for 142.
The leading British players on 145 are England's Florentyna Parker whose 67 was the best by anyone in the second round, and Melissa Reid who had a 73.
