KELSEY TOP SCOT IN BELGIUM AT END OF FIRST ROUND

Nairn Dunbar's Kelsey MacDonald (above, left) was the best placed of the four Scots in the field at the end of the first round of the Belgian Junior International Championship at Royal Golf Club of Belgium, near Brussels today.
Kelsey was in seventh place in the girls' section after a three-over-par 75. Her only birdie came at the first hole. She had bogeys at the sixth, eighth, 11th and 18th in halves of 37 and 38.
Megan Briggs (Kilmacolm), above, right, is sharing 28th place after an 80 which included an outward half of six-over-par 42. Megan never recovered from a double bogey 7 at the long first hole. She did get a birdie, at the 14th, in an inward 38.
David Law (Hazlehead) and Andrew McLachlan (Bonnyton) both returned five-over-par 72s to be joint 13th in the boys' category. David was out in one-over-par 37 with a bogey at the ninth his only deviation from par but it was a different story on the inward half. He had birdies at the 16th and 18th, a par at the 13th and the rest bogeys.
McLachlan had double bogeys at the ninth and 16th in his halves of 38 and 39. He did birdie the seventh and 14th.
