TOUGH ON KELSEY: TRIP TO HOUSTON MADE
HER UNAVAILABLE FOR NORTH BERWICK

Tough luck on Kelsey MacDonald that she was unavailable for selection to the LGU Junior Team for the October training match against the Vagliano Trophy squad at North Berwick. Scroll down to read the Ladies Golf Union Press Release.
The Nairn Dunbar teenager is already committed to going to Texas in October - at the time of the North Berwick three-day match - as a member of the Grampian Houston Junior Trip.
This trip happens only every two years and sends a dozen North and North-east boys and girls to Texas to play the great courses in the Houston area, get some coaching from Major winner Steve Elkington and go through their paces for some United States college golf coaches.
Clubs in the North and North-east are asked every two years to nominate a boy or girl from their club whom, they feel, would benefit most from such a trip.
A selection committee then interviews the nominees and decides which 12 will go on the 10-day all expenses paid trip.
So, although Kelsey would certainly have liked to play for what is in effect a Great Britain & Ireland girls team, she will realise that the Grampian Houston Junior Trip will give her memories of a life-time.
Other talented Scots youngsters who would almost certainly been selected for the North Berwick match were Krystle Caithness (St Regulus) and Roseanne Niven (Crieff) but they will be at college in the United States by mid-October.
