VIKKI SHARING SECOND PLACE IN FUTURES
TOUR EVENT IN WEST VIRGINIA

Vikki Laing went into the final round of the US Futures Tour event, the Betty Puskar Classic, in joint second place, three shots off the pace at The Pines Country Club, Morgantown in West Virginia.
The US-based Musselburgh exile had rounds of 68 and 69 over the rolling, mountainous course of 6,336yd with a par of 72.
Her 36-hole tally of 137 tied her with Kellee Booth from Texas and Eunjung Yi from California behind rookie leader Taylor Leon from Texas with 65 and 69 for 134.
Vikki was forced to practice patience with seven consecutive pars until she finally rolled in a 4ft birdie putt on the eighth hole. Saying her goal this week has been to improve her creativity around the greens, the Scot saved one par from 11 feet and carded three more birdies and a lip-out bogey in her second round.
“I’m pretty happy to be where I am,” said Vikki. “You have to be creative out here because there are a lot of little wedges, chances to spin it back and undulating greens. You have to focus on the terrain, hit it and just go chase it.”
The three other British players on the No 2 American women's pro circuit - Brenda McLarnon from belfast, Polly Willett from London and South Wales amateur Natasha Morgan, missed the cut at 147. McLarnon and Willett both talled 150 and Morgan 154.
