English Ladies Golf Association Press Release

Hannah Barwood leads English girls
to victory in schools’ international

Gloucestershire’s Hannah Barwood captained the English schools girls’ team to a fine 5½-½ win in the annual international against Wales at Gay Hill, Worcestershire.
Hannah, the English schools champion from Knowle in Gloucestershire, led a team of four girls – of whom three are members of English Ladies’ Golf Association squads.
Hannah is in the U18 squad, while Katie Mundy (Dunwood Manor) is in Select South East and Elizabeth Mallett (Sutton Coldfield Ladies) is in Birdies Midlands West I.
Hannah and Katie, both 17, are both England girl internationals. Elizabeth, 13, is the English schools U16 champion.
The team for the schools international was completed by Emily Mathieson, a nine handicapper from Kent.
The girls’ unbeaten performance was crucial in giving the English combined team an overall 11-7 victory after the boys were beaten 6½- 5½.

Editor's note: Scotland play England in a schools' international at Westerwood Hotel Golf Resort, Cumbernauld on Monday, September 10.
