McKINNON, KENNY BEAT CUT BUT IMRIE
AND QUEEN ELIMINATED IN DENMARK

England’s Kiran Matharu continued her impressive recent form to snatch the outright lead following the second round of the Nykredit Masters in Denmark.
The 18-year-old from Leeds carded just one bogey and six birdies – including one on her final hole - on her way to a five-under-par 66 and a 36-hole tally of eight-under-par 134.
Matharu finished joint fourth at the Finnair Masters last week, and is in the driving seat at the Helsingør Golf Club after equalling her lowest ever professional round in her first year on the Ladies European Tour.
She previously shot 66 last week in Finland - and said that all of the elements of her game were coming together.“I am putting really well at the moment and hit a few good shots,” said Matharu.
“I only had one bogey, so that helps. I am hitting the ball well, putting well and chipping quite well this week.”
She said: “I played really solidly today and didn’t do anything stupid. I holed some really good putts, just did the same as yesterday.”
Australia’s Sarah Kemp and Sweden’s Lotta Wahlin share second on seven-under 135, one stroke behind the leader. Kemp carded four birdies and a single bogey to build on her first round score of 68. The 21-year-old made a solid start to her front nine, picking up one stroke with a birdie on the par-five fifth.A brace of birdies on the 13th and 14th followed, but she dropped a shot at the 15th. However, she cancelled out her solitary bogey with her final birdie – and fourth of the round – on the 16th, before completing the final two holes in regulation.
Wahlin also flirted with the lead during her three-under-par round – which included five birdies and two bogeys.
The 23-year-old got off to a poor start by bogeying her first hole. But she made up for it immediately, birdieing the second and adding a further two birdies to pick up two shots on her opening nine.
Two more birdies and a bogey followed on the back nine, and she was close to a hole-in-one at the par-three 17th. “I am really happy with the play today,” she said. “I made a few mistakes on a few holes, but I was so close to a hole in one. I’m pleased.”
Four players - French duo Gwladys Nocera, Jehanne Jail, England’s Kirsty Taylor and Denmark’s Lisa Holm Sorensen - are tied for fourth on five-under-par 137.
Nocera, who will represent Europe in the Solheim Cup for the second time next week, said the Nykredit Masters was the perfect warm-up for the biennial match-play competition.“The goal of being here is to get ready for next week, so I think it is working pretty well,” the 32-year-old said.
Her European team-mates Trish Johnson (five-over-par), Becky Brewerton and Iben Tinning (both eight-over) missed the cut, but Nocera said it was the practice – not the result – that was important.
“It doesn’t mean anything,” she said. “Next week is just another week, a completely different tournament.
Inverness-based Liz McKinnon beat the 145 deadline by ease with scores of 72 and 71. She is joint 37th going into the third round.
Lynn Kenny slumped to a 76, seven shots worse than her first round and is now joint 60th. On 145, she made the cut with nothing to spare.
Kathryn Imrie (151) and Clare Queen (152) missed the cut by a big margin. Kathyrn had scores of 74 and 77, Clare 79 and 73.
