LAUREN WHYTE WINS SWINGING IN
THE RAIN AT LETHAM GRANGE

Lauren Whyte (Aberdeen Ladies) won the Platform 2 girls’ tournament over Letham Grange Hotel’s No 2 course, the Glens, in atrocious rainy conditions. It did not stop raining until 4pm by which time almost all of the girls were back in the hotel-cum-clubhouse.
Lauren shot a gross 73, which was eight over the ladies’ par but still a very good score in such unpleasant weather. The Cults Academy pupil, who has a handicap of 10, won by three strokes from Rebecca Wilson (Monifieth) on 76 with Mhairi Johnstone (Northern) pipping Ashley Smith (Monifieth) for third prize on a better inward half (39-42) after they both finished on the 79 mark.
Best net score was a 62 off 18 by Hannah Mackay who made the long trip to Angus from Tain. She won by a shot from Eleanor Franks (Ballater), also an 18-handicapper, with Ailsa Summers (Panmure Barry) third with a net 65 off 15.
