PING SPONSORSHOP OF SOLHEIM CUP
WILL GO ON AND ON - JOHN SOLHEIM
Golf club manafucters Ping are to continue sponsoring the Solheim Cup - the women's equivalent of the Ryder Cup - for at least another eight years.
The 10th staging of the match takes place at Halmstad in Sweden this weekend, having been launched in Florida in 1990.
"It has been especially exciting to see the event grow to the major level we enjoy today," said John Solheim, chairman and chief executive officer of Ping. "This was our hope and our dream at the inception."
He added: "Our goal is to be with it for ever. The phenomenal thing is that it's people playing for pride and their country - it's not the dollar."
