STUDENT RACHEL TEES IT UP WITH STARS AT
DE VERE LADIES SCOTTISH CHAMPIONSHIP

University of Stirling Second Year Sports Studies student, Rachel Cassidy, fulfils a lifetime ambition when she tees it up alongside some of Europe's best female professional golfers at the De Vere Ladies Scottish championship over The Carrick at Cameron House course at Loch Lomond on Thursday-Friday-Saturday this week.
Cassidy, from Ireland, gained her place in the field after coming out on top at the 2007 R&A Bursars’ Tournament, an invitation event for golf scholarship students supported by the R&A. She is keen to test her skills against the leading players, particularly those who played in last weekend’s Solheim Cup.
Cassidy commented:
“It’s a bit daunting, but very exciting as well. To be able to practise and compete alongside Solheim Cup players will be great for my development. The course is fantastic but very challenging. It will be very tough for me, but hopefully I can embrace this opportunity."
The student is a current recipient of a golf scholarship at the University of Stirling. She follows a long list of successful players to be attached to the leading sporting institution, including the 2006 US Amateur Champion, Richie Ramsay.
Cassidy joins Stirling alumni, Catriona Matthew and Lynn Kenny in the De Vere Ladies Scottish Open which is over 54 holes, starting on Thursday, cut after Friday's second round, final 18 holes on Saturday.
