VIKKI'S DISAPPOINTING START IN FINAL
US FUTURES TOUR EVENT OF SEASON

Vikki Laing from Musselburgh did not get the flying start she was seeking in the first round of the final US Futures Tour event of the season, the $100,000 Iloveny Championship at Capital Hills golf course, Albany in New York State.
Vikki, who rose to eighth place in the tour's money table after scoring her first ever win as a professional in the last event, needs to finish the season in the top five to gain automatic promotion to the LPGA Tour next season. To do that she needs to win or go very close to winning at Albany.
Instead the Scot had a modest two-over-par 74 (38-36) over the 6,210yd, par-71 (36-35) course.
She trails American leader Danah Ford by eight strokes and starts the second round of the 54-hole tournament in joint 38th place.
Brenda McLarnon from Belfast had a 72 to be in joint 17th place while Polly Willett from London is in joint 64th place after a 76.
