CUPAR COLLEGE LECTURERS WIN SCOTTISH MIXED FOURSOMES

Three years after being crowned Scottish women’s amateur champion for a third time, Anne Laing (Vale of Leven) is still winning national golf titles.
The 32-year-old former Curtis Cup player, pictured right, today won the Scottish mixed foursomes title in partnership with a fellow Elmwood College, Cupar lecturer, Fraser Hutchison, a member at Burntisland Golf Club,
They had a gross score of 73 at Deer Park Golf Club to win by one shot from two pairs. They were 18-year-old Scotland international Megan Briggs (Kilmacolm) and clubmate Matthew Clark, as well as the Baberton husband-and-wife combination of Douglas and Fiona Hunter.
Matthew and Megan took the second scratch prize with the better inward half while the Hunters had the consolation of winning the best net score award with a score of 70 ½ off 3 ½.
Runners-up were Lorraine Campbell and Iain Campbell, both from the Cardross club. They had a net 74 off a handicap of three.
Twenty-five couples played in the championship which was washed out on its original scheduled date of Sunday, September 16.

Leading handicap
Fiona Hunter & Douglas Hunter (Baberton) (3 ½) 70 ½.
Lorraine Campbell & Iain Campbell (Cardross) (3) 74.
