Hacienda del Alamo Women's Winter Golf Festival
February 10 to 23, 2008

Take a bow, Emily Ogilvy!
The Scotland international and beaten finalist in this year's Scottish women's amateur championship has registered the first official entry for the Hacienda del Alamo Women's Winter Golf Festival, which is open single-figure lady amateurs and lady professionals.
Well, her mother, Karen, has actually registered it with me because Emily (pictured right) has stayed on in the United States following The Spirit international tournament in Texas to get in some warm weather practice.
Karen plays off +1 and is a member of Auchterarder Golf Club. It's been the season where she made the big step up from being a very good county player to Scotland international status.
Other Scots who are trying to juggle about their winter plans so that they can play in the HDA Women's Winter Festival include the following professionals:
KATHRYN IMRIE
JENNA WILSON
HEATHER MACRAE
Former Curtis Cup player and now a tour pro, Danielle Masters, attached to Chart Hills Golf Club, Kent, says she will enter if she can get three other girls to share the cost of one of the villas at the five-star Hacienda del Alamo Golf Resort.
Earlier in the week, we passed on possible flights to Murcia for those aiming to play in the Festival. They centred mainly on Easy Jet's Glasgow to Alicante schedule as an option to Ryanair's Prestwick to Murcia flights.
Here's another route from golfers on the east side of Scotland.
BMI Baby have a service from Birmingham to Murcia which I will probably use myself, flying Aberdeen to Birmingham and on to Murcia on Friday, February 8 and home again, Murcia-Birmingham-Aberdeen on Sunday, February 24.
The Birmingham-Murcia-Birmingham flights cost a total of £99.38, including taxes.
You can, of course, book Edinburgh to Birmingham flights to link up with the schedules to Murcia.
