First female player to score under par at Hacienda del Alamo

ELAINE SETS RECORD AT SPANISH
COURSE WHILE ON HOLIDAY

Aberdeen solicitor Elaine Farquharson-Black has turned back the clock to her glory days as an amateur international golfer, by becoming the first female player to return a score under the women's par of 72 at Hacienda del Alamo Golf Resort in Murcia, Spain.
Invited by North-east man Billy Sim, the resort's director of golf, to compete in the Torneo Fundacion Chinguetti one-round charity competition while on holiday at Hacienda del Alamo, Elaine claimed the course record with a score of 70.
"Considering Elaine had not seen the course before, it was a fantastic effort," said Billy Sim. "The ladies' course is more than 6,000yd long and no female golfer has come nearing breaking the par of 72 in the two or three years since Dave Thomas designed the championship course."
A former Scottish girls' and women's champion and Curtis Cup player, Elaine set several women's course records in the North-east in her hey day. At least one still stands - a terrific 10 under par score of 65 over the Moray Golf Club Old course at Lossiemouth.
Elaine is an honorary member of Deeside Golf Club.
