JENNA WILSON QUALIFIES FOR LADIES EUROPEAN
TOUR FINAL QUALIFYING SCHOOL NEXT WEEK

Scottish amateur champion Jenna Wilson was the only Scot at this week's LET Q School Pre-Qualifier to make it through to the Final Q School at Le Fonti Golf Club, Italy next week.
Jenna, from Strathaven, sagged a little bit in the third round with a 75 but her first two rounds of 69 stood her in good stead and she qualified in joint 19th place on three-under-par 213 of the 28 players who qualified with totals of one-under-par 215 or better.
US-based Vikki Laing, who will be flying back to the States, to contest the LPGA Qualifying School, made a gallant bid to make up the leeway left her by indifdferne opening rounds of 74 and 76. The Musselburgh player shot a four-under-par 68, one of the lowest by anyone on the final day, but her three-round total of two-over-par 218 was three shots too many to qualify.
Heather MacRae from Dunblane finished with a one-over-par 73 for five-over-par 221. An opening round of 78 was the "killer" as far as Heather was concerned.
One of the intriguing feature of the final totals today was that the first five players are still amateurs and, in all, 17 of the 28 qualifiers, are amateurs.
HALL, BELL AND REID THE TOP BRITS AMONG THE
28 QUALIFIERS AT ONE-UNDER 215 OR BETTER

Amateurs Emma Cabrera-Bello from Spain and France’s Camille Fallay led the qualifiers for the Final Stage of the Ladies European Tour’s Qualifying School after tieing at the top of the leader board on the conclusionof the 54-hole Pre-Qualifier at Le Fonti Golf Club in Italy today.
Cabrera-Bello, 21, from Gran Canaria and Fallay, 25, from Bussy, were two of 28 players, including 18 amateurs, to have secured a place in next week’s Final Qualifying School at the same venue.
They will join the 66 professionals already exempt to make a field of 94 players.
Cabrera-Bello carded a final round of five-under 67 for a 12-under-par 54-hole total of 204 while Fallay, who led by three shots entering the final round, posted a 71 to share the winning total.
“The last nine was difficult today because I was a little tired but I played three rounds under par so I am very happy. I hope to play like that next week,” said Fallay, the less experienced of the pair, having taken up the game only five years ago.
Cabrera-Bello, who began golfing aged five and who was a member of the PING Junior Solheim Cup team in 2002 and 2003, as well as a Junior Ryder Cup player in 2002, said: “I’ve been playing golf for 16 years now and on the national team for seven years so I wasn’t too nervous today. It wasn’t about winning today; it was about making it into the top 25 so that makes it a little easier.
"As long as you play regularly, I knew I was going to make it. I was quite relaxed and that’s probably why I scored low.
“I never expected myself to be in the lead but it brings up your confidence for next week. Next week is the real thing. That’s when you really have to play well."
French amateur Caroline Afonso finished strongly with a 69 for an 11-under total. Welsh amateur Lydia Hall closed with a 66 to share fourth position with English amateur Rachel Bell, who had a final round of 69.
England’s leading amateur Melissa Reid had a 71 to share sixth place on six-under-par with Cortney Reno (68) and Beth Allen (69) from the United States.
The cut to 25 players and ties fell at one-under-par, with four players finishing on that number. Stage 2, Final Qualifying, will take place next week from Tuesday to Friday (October 21 to 26) over 72 holes of stroke-play.
There will be a cut to the leading 50 players and ties after 54 holes. The leading 30 players after four rounds will receive Category 8 membership of the Ladies European Tour, which will give them starts in most full field tournaments.
Those players who finish in positions 31-50 and ties will receive membership in Category 10b, with some playing restrictions.

ALL FAIRWAYS FOR LADY GOLFERS LEAD TO HACIENDA
DEL ALAMO GOLF RESORT, SPAIN NEXT FEBRUARY

There will be a minimum of six competitions during the coming winter in which all the non-qualifiers at the Ladies European Tour Q School Pre-Qualifier will be able to play.
In fact, they will be open to ALL lady professionals and ALL lady amateur golfers, as long as they have a single-figure handicaps, and that includes the ever-increasing number of senior lady golfers.

In the meantime, just to whet your appetite, all the events will be played at Hacienda del Alamo Golf Resort in Murcia, Spain. They will be staged between February 10 and February 23.
The fortnight's programme is something of a trail-blazer for the Murcia Ladies Open Tour, a developmental circuit of 36-hole events (two a week) which will tee from early January to early March in 2009 with Hacienda del Alamo the HQ.
