LPGA Thailand tournament

SUZANN PRODUCES EAGLE AT LAST TO
HOLD LAURA DAVIES AT BAY

Norwegian Suzann Pettersen, who has had a stellar season, added the Honda LPGA Thailand tournament at the weekend to her list of victories, making five in all. She made all the running to win the $195,000 first prize but it was close, very close in the end.
Suzann came under severe pressure from Laura Davies in the closing round. Leading by seven strokes after a third-round score of 63, Pettersen eventually had to make an eagle at the last to hole off the charging English player.
Davies's brilliant last round of seven-under-par 65 included an eagle at the first followed by six birdies at regular intervals. Laura did not make a single bogey between the eighth hole on the second round and the 16th in the fourth and final circuit.
Pettersen, who had bogeyed four holes and went on to finish with a 71, was tied overall with Davies on the final fairway. Laura birdied it (just missing her putt from 25ft for an eagle 3) but Suzann holed her eagle 3 putt after a glorious three-wood second to within 15ft of the stick for a final total of 21-under-par 267.
The English player had a final total of 268 and 20 under par.
"She made a great shot on the last and that was it," said the 44-year-old Davies about the last-hole drama.
"It was all about that one shot. She hit the shot and I slightly pushed my six-iron. I had a really good putt, I thought I had made it, but I didn't make it."
Laura Davies' runner-up cheque for $125,000 boosted her earnings in over 20 years on the LPGA Tour over the $8million mark - making her only the ninth player in tour history to reached that significant figure. Laura's precise earnings figure on the LPGA Tour is $8,116,126.
American Paula Creamer came third at the Siam Country Club after a six-under-par 66 in the fourth round, which took her total to 270.
Rachel Hetherington of Australia crept up the leaderboard on the last day by matching Davies' 65 to claim fourth, while former world No 1 Annika Sorenstam was sixth on 275
