REBECCA WATSON SLIPS IN SECOND ROUND
OF LAS VEGAS COLLEGIATE SHOWDOWN

South Queensferry teenager Rebecca Watson, a freshman student at Tennessee University, slipped from an overnight 19th to joint 37th in a field of 90 with a second-round 77 for a 36-hole tally of 150 in the Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown tournament at Angel Park Mountain course in Nevada.
Rebecca, 18, birdied the fourth and eighth on a promising outward half over the 6,050yd par-72 course but she ran up a triple bogey 6 at the short 11th and a double bogey 6 at the 18 in taking six-over 42 shots for the inward journey.
With one round to go, the Scot is 14 behind the three-shot leader, Katie Kempter (Denver) who has shot 67 and 69 for eight-under-par 136.
Ireland international Tara Delaney (Kent State) birdied the ninth, 16th and 18th on her way to a second-round 71 which improved her standing from tied 27th to tied 11th on one-over-par 145.
Another Irish player, Danielle McVeigh (Texas A&M) also climbed the ladder from tied 27th to
joint 15th with a 73 for 147. Danielle birdied the first, second and 18th but she had a double bogey 6 at the 10th.
Yorkshire's Jodi Ewart (New Mexico) moved up from tied 41st to joint 25th with a 73 for 148. Jodi had an outward half of 33 with birdies at the first, third, fifth and eighth.
Denver (570) lead the team event by five shots from Arizona with Tennessee (579) in third place.
