SCOTS' DISAPPOINTING START TO THE SPIRIT
TOURNAMENT IN TEXAS


Scotland were tied for last place with Brazil in the global field of 23 countries at the end of the first day of The Spirit mixed amateur golf international tournament at Whispering Pines Golf Club, Trinity in Texas.
The Scotland men's pair of Scott Borrowman (Dollar) and Scott Mann (Carnoustie) had a better ball score of 73 while the Scottish girls, Michele Thomson (McDonald Ellon) and Emily Ogilvy (Auchterarder) had a combined score of 78.
That gave the Scots team of four a first-round total of 151 - 18 shots behind leaders Korea. It is a 72-hole tournament.
