SCOTS DOWN THE FIELD IN MERCEDES BENZ
CHAMPIONSHIP AT KNOXVILLE, TENNESSEE

South Queensferry's Rebecca Watson, making her debut for the University of Tennessee, finished joint 61st and Gemma Webster (Ohio State) from Glasgow was 79th equal in a field of 93 players for the Mercedes Benz women's college championship at Cherokee Country Club, Knoxville in Tennessee.
Rebecca had scores of 77, 74 and 78 for a total of 229. Gemma's rounds were 74, 78 and 83.
Ireland international Tara Delaney (Kent State) finished joint 27th on 222 with scores of 73, 73 and 76.
English girls champion Ellie Givens, a freshman at Denver University, had rounds of 70, 77 and 79 for 226 and a share of 47th place.
German international Sandra Gal (Florida) beat Cydney Clanton (Auburn) at the first extra hole of a play-off after they had tied on three-under-par 210. Clanton went out of bounds off the tee.
Florida (865) also won the team title ahead of Purdue (870), Arkansas (878), Auburn (879), Kent State (881), Tennessee (883) and Denver (885) in a field of 17 teams, including a touring Swedish National Junior Squad.
