ANOTHER TITLE, ANOTHER RECORD
FOR ALEX PETERS (14)

Nottinghamshire teenager Alex Peters has wrapped up her sparkling 2007 season with yet another title – and her third course record of the year. The 14-year-old scored her latest success when she won the girls’ championship in the Andalucia European Junior Open at Alcaidesa in Spain.
Alex, from the English Ladies’ Golf Association’s Under-18 Squad, finished four strokes clear of the field – but she had a scare on her way to victory.
She had a five-shot lead going into the final round but after 11 holes she was one behind squad colleague and England girl international, Raffi Dyer from Hayling in Hampshire.
However, Alex rallied with three birdies over the closing holes to take the title back to Nottinghamshire, where she is a member at Notts’ Ladies and Beeston Fields golf clubs.
In the first round of the event Alex set a ladies’ course record with a one-under 71. Earlier in the season she also set records at Chilwell Manor in Nottinghamshire and at Heswall in Cheshire, where she was three-under par.
Her personal roll of honour for 2007 includes winning the Midland Ladies’ championship and the North of England Under-14 and Under-16 titles, helping England to a silver medal in the European Young Masters and reducing her handicap to scratch – all while aged 13.
