GEMMA WEBSTER DOWN THE CALIFORNIA FIELD

Gemma down the field in California

Glasgow´s Gemma Webster, a student at Ohio State University, finished joint 63rd in a field of 83 for the Northrop Grumman Regional women´s college golf tournament at Palos Verde Golf Club, California.
The Scotland international player and Hilton Park Golf Club member had rounds of 80, 79 and 81 for a 27-over-par total of 240 over a par-71 course of 5,912yd which was playing long in adverse weather conditions.
She finished 25 shots behind the winner, Natalie Sheary (Wake Forest) who shot 72, 71 and 72 for two-over 215 and a one-stroke win from five players.
Ladies Golf Union Elite Squad member Danielle McVeigh (Texas A&M) from Royal County Down finished joint 18th on 225 with scores of 75, 72 and 78. Also on that mark was Spain's Belen Mozo (Southern California), a former British women's open champion.

Alison Walshe, the Galway-born student at Arizona University, who has been selected to play for the United States in the Curtis Cup match at St Andrews at the end of May, shared 23rd place on 227 with 78, 76 and 73.

UCLA won the team event from Florida with Southern California third.
