GEMMA BEST OF GB&I STUDENTS IN
CENTRAL DISTRICT INVITATIONAL

This year's Central District Invitational women's college tournament at
River Wilderness Golf Club, Parrish in Florida was not one the British
competitors will have wanted to write home about.
The best placed was Scotland international Gemma Webster (Hilton Park
GC & Ohio State University) - and she finished joint 50th with rounds of
78, 80 and 81 for 23 over par 239.
Curtis Cup team place candidate Tara Delaney (Carlow GC & Kent State
University) finished joint 61st with scores of 80, 82 and 81 for 243.
Hannah Burke (Baylor University), who had such a good first half of the
2007-2008 college season. was another who could not break 80 in three
rounds over the par-72, 6099yd course. Hannah scored 80, 81 and 84 for
a share of 64th place on 245.
Baylor team-mate Sian Reddick finished 71st on 253 with rounds of 81,
80 and 92.
Danielle McVeigh (Texas A&M), like Tara Delaney a member of the Curtis
Cup winter squad, did not play the second round for a reason that is
not immediately available from the Golf Stat website. Danielle scored
77 in the first round and was well enough to play the third round with
a score of 82.
Sara Brown (Michigan State) won the individual honours by SEVEN strokes
with scores of 70, 70 and 72 for four under par 212. Sounds like she
was playing a different course!
Julia Potter (Missouri) was runner-up with 73, 72 and 74 for 219.
Michigan State (892) won the team title by 10 shots from Texas A&M with
