LUCY AND SINEAD IN LEADING EAST
TENNESSEE STATE TEAM AT
PINEHURST WOMEN'S CHALLENGE
Lucy Gould from Bargoed, South Wales and Sinead O'Sullivan from Galway, Ireland are both members of the East Tennessee State University women's golf team which is four shots ahead in the team competition at the Pinehurst Challenge women's college tournament over the No 8 course which has a par of 72 and measures 5,968yd.
Lucy, twice a past winner of the Welsh girls' championship, is lying joint third in the individual event after rounds of 75 and 74 for 149 with Emma de Groot (Chattanooga-Tennessee) (75-74) and Emelie Lind (East Carolina) (75-74).
One shot ahead disputing first place are Steffi Kirchmayr (College of Charleston) (73-75) and Laura Jansone (East Tennessee State) (76-72).
In joint 25th place is Channel Islander Olivia Higgins (Charleston South) (80-76).
Anna Scott from Consett, Co Durham (Georgia State) is sharing 28th place on 157 with rounds of 81 and 76.
Sinead O'Sullivan is back in joint 61st place with 84 and 78 for 168.
Portia Abbot (Jacksonville State) from Wiltshire is joint 73rd with 81 and 83.
Ireland's Dawn Marie Conaty (Memphis) has had a pair of 83s for 166 and a share of 87th place.
Laura Culter (Jacksonville State) from Nottigham is joint 102nd in a field of 116 with scores of 85 and 86.
In the team event it is East Tennessee State (611) ahead of East Caroloina (615) and North Carolinia-Greensboro and Tennessee-Chattanooga (both 620).
