Liz Bennett finishes fourth in
Aussie stroke-play

Internationals Liz Bennett and Rachel Jennings gave England plenty to cheer about on the final day of the Australian women's open amateur stroke-play championship at Glenelg Golf Club, Adelaide.
Liz, from Brokenhurst Manor in Hampshire, returned a one-under par 73 in the final round to claim fourth place in a field of 83 players on 294. She was two-under-par for the 72-hole event, which was won by Australia’s 18-year-old Stephanie Na, playing over her home course, on 15-under par 281.
Liz has been selected for the GB&I team for the 2008 Curtis Cup match at St Andrews.
Rachel, from Izaak Walton Golf Club in Staffordshire, produced the best English performance of the week with a course-record equalling 69. It was her first competitive score below 70 and moved her up to sixth place on 299. Rachel recently won the French lady junior championship.
All five players in the English Women’s Golf Association squad finished in the top 32 and automatically qualified for the Australian women's open amateur match-play championship which starts tomorrow at Royal Adelaide.
