FIFE TOP SEED SUSAN JACKSON
TOPPLED BY FIONA HASTIE
Top seed Susan Jackson (Ladybank) was toppled by the No 9 qualifier Fiona (Lockhart) Hastie (St Regulus) in today's quarter-finals of the Fife women's county championship over the Jubilee Course, St Andrews.
Former Scotland international Fiona, winner of the Fife title in 2005 and again last year, won by 5 and 4 and now plays Katrina Milne (Cochrane Castle) in Sunday's first semi-finals (9.36am). Katrina, the 2004 Fife champion, had a good 5 and 4 win over Jocelyn Carthew (Ladybank), the No 4 seed, in the quarter-finals.
The other semi-final (9.44am) will see old rivals Louise Kenney (Pitreavie), the No 3 seed, play the No 2 qualifier, Elaine Moffat (St Regulus), winner of the title in 2006.
Louise beat Alison McDonald (St Regulus) by 7 and 5 in the round of the last eight. Elaine was a 3 and 2 winner over Karen Sharp (Kirkcaldy) in the quarter-finals.
