RUTH CARROLL IS NEW EAST
LOTHIAN COUNTY CHAMPION

Ruth Carroll (Musselburgh Old) is the new East Lothian women's county champion.
She beat Jayne Smith (Gullane) by 4 and 3 in the final at Craigielaw Golf Club.
Ruth has been playing golf for only a comparatively short time - this is her sixth season - but she has a handicap of five.
Ruth jumped into an early three-hole lead against Jayne and was able to maintain her position.
She is the junior convener at Musselburgh Old.
The East Lothian Handicap Quaich was won by Jane Herd in an all-Musselburgh final against Irene Gray. Jane was conceding 14 shots but she was able to establish an early three-hole lead and this gave her a cushion against Irene's fight back.
Jane won by one hole in the end.
