Welsh women's open amateur stroke-play
SCOTS YOUNGSTERS PAMELA, JANE
BID TO FOLLOW IN FOOTSTEPS OF
WINNER HEATHER MACRAE
Scottish hopes of providing a successor to Heather MacRae, now a professional, as winner of the Welsh women's open amateur stroke play championship, seemed to rest in the hands of youngsters Pamela Pretswell (Bothwell Castle) and Jane Turner (Craigielaw) after the first round at Pyle & Kenfig Golf Club today.
Pretswell, picture right by courtesy of Cal Carson Golf Agency, all rights reserved, a Glasgow University student and the Scottish universities champion, returned a four-over-par 78 in testing condtions at the exposed South Wales links course.
Jane Turner, the East of Scotland girls' champion, had a 79.

For the second week in a row Curtis Cup reserve Sahra Hassan is the first-round leader in a major women's amateur tournament
The Vale of Glamorgan player followed up her early pole position at last week's "Helen Holm" Scottish open amateur stroke-play championship at Troon, with a two-over 76 at Pyle & Kenfig.
She failed to retain the lead at Troon. It remains to be seen if she can do better over the final 36 holes of this tournament.
