Hayley and Lauren in step at top

of English Under-15 leaderboard

PRESS RELEASE ISSUED BY ENGLISH WOMEN'S GOLF ASSOCIATION
Dorset’s Hayley Davis and Warwickshire’s Lauren Taylor kept their grip on the top of the leaderboard at the halfway stage of the English Under-15 girls’ championship at Ramside, Durham.
Both girls are one-under par for the tournament and have returned identical scores of 73 and 76.
In the second round Hayley, 15, who plays at Ferndown, reached the turn at one under par but dropped three shots on the inward half.
Lauren, 13, (Rugby) had an up-and-down front nine with three birdies, three bogeys and three pars. She dropped two shots early on the second half but then parred her way home.
Hayley and Lauren are three shots clear of Hannah McLoughlin from Sutton Coldfield Ladies. Her club colleague, Elizabeth Mallett, is a further shot back.
The field was cut to 36 players and ties after the second round with 37 making it through to tomorrow’s final 36 holes.

Charley Hull four ahead in Under-13s
Northamptonshire’s Charley Hull holds a four-shot lead with one round to play in the English Under-13 girls’ championship at Ramside, Durham.
The 12-year-old from Kettering is level par after 36 holes. She scored a one-under 73 in the second round to overtake Cheshire’s Bronte Law at the top of the leaderboard. Charley had only one disappointing hole on her card: a double bogey 6 on the eighth.
For the rest, she had three birdies and 14 pars – and played the back nine in one-under. The four-handicapper is the Northamptonshire girls’ champion and plays in the county team. She’s been a prominent junior golfer since she was nine and won a national competition for club golfers organised by the LGU.
The field was cut after 36 holes to the leading 18 players and ties who will contest tomorrow’s final round. Altogether, 21 players qualified.
