Matthew and Kirsty are Wee Wonders!

FROM DAWN BUTCHART, PERTH & KINROSS LADIES COUNTY CAPTAIN
Fantastic news from the Strathmore Golf Club Junior Section at the weekend! Our youngest member, Matthew Sime (5) along with junior girl member Kirsty Brodie, made it into the finals of the Wee Wonders at St Andrews.
They both played fantastic golf and Kirsty completed the weekend in third postition in her section. Kirsty is the nicest wee girl and smiled her way round the course both days. A great credit to her family and Strathmore. Well done Kirsty.
But the most amazing news is that our wee Matthew, who just recently turned five and qualified for the finals of the Wee Wonders at the age of four, the youngest ever qualifier, has been selected to represent GB&I in the Wee Wonders Tournament in America next year.
The GB&I team take on America over the Pinehurst Course in North Carolina next July. What amazing news for a wee lad who only just played on a golf course for the very first time in April. As you are aware the highest handicap a junior can obtain is 54 but wee Matthew, at the age of four, gained his first handicap of 46 and has, since April, reduced this to 32! Quite a wee star!
