Laura from Latvia helps East

Tennessee State score a

double whammy win

It's been a great few days for East Tennessee State University. One of their male students, Welsh-born Rhys Enoch won the Shoal Creek Intercollegiate in Alabama - and their women's team scored a double whammy in the Sea Trail Women's Intercollegiate at Willard Byrd course, Sunset Beach in North Carolina.
East Tennessee State provided the individual winner - Laura Jansone (pictured above), a junior year student from Latvia - and also won the team title.
It was Laura's third US college win and she did it with a par-equalling 54-hole total of 73, 70 and 73 over the par-72, 5947yd course.
She headed a field of 85 players by six shots from Bambee Dela Paz (Cincinnati).
East Tennessee State's latest European recruit, Spaniard Mayte Vizcarrondo, finished fourth on her debut appearance with scores of 80, 71 and 73 for 224.
Mayte's arrival gives the women's team something they have been lacking - a player to give close support to the brilliant Laura Jansone.
Ireland's Sinead O'Sullivan (East Tennessee State) finished joint 17th on 232, one shot ahead of Dorset's Hannah Bews who has transferred from Portland State University to Bethune Cookman College, Daytona Beach.
English students Emma Taylor and Fern Grimshaw, both Bethune Cookman College, finished on 234 and 237 respectively.
Twice Welsh girls champion Lucy Gould (East Tennessee State) from Bargoed finished on 238 and Andrew Downer (Murray State), another English girl in the field) totalled 246.
East Tennessee State won the team event by seven shots from Longwood University.
