Murcar Links lost to Pleasington
in Mail on Sunday Classic

Murcar Links lost by 4 1/2-1/2 against Pleasington (Blackburn) in the quarter-finals of the Mail on Sunday Ladies Golf Classic at Worsley Park Golf Club near Manchester.
Pat Wilson, the SLGA chairman, was the only Murcar Links player who did not lose her tie. She halved with Dorothy Sunderland after being two down with to to play.
Carol Wilson was totally up against it. She had to concede three shots and was only two over par through eight holes, thereby playing to her handicap - and found herself five down to Susan Caton who went on to win by 6 and 5.
The Pleasington player birdied five holes in a row from the second - great golf from anyone and, from a seven-handicapper, terrific scoring.
"We've thoroughly enjoyed our year in this competition, and had a whale of a time at the Marriott in Manchester," said Laura McLardy who provided the information for this report.
"We'll give it our best shot to make it there again at some point in the future. I'm indebted to those from Murcar who played for us this year and gave us the opportunity to play at the Marriott, and we're disappointed not to be progressing to El Rompido in Spain in November. "
