Scots Booth, Murray to fore
in world universities'
championships at Sun City

Stirling student David Booth, competing for Great Britain, was only one shot off the lead in the men's event while team-mate Laura Murray (Robert Gordon University) from Alford was in joint ninth place in the women's competition at the end of the first day of the world universities golf championships at Sun City, South Africa.
Booth shot a three-under-par 69 to be one behind pacemaker Leonard Motta (Italy).
Englishman Andy Shakespear was sharing third place on 72.
Paul Betty, also from Stirling University, was in joint 17th position on 77.
Katie Tewell (United States) led the women's event with a par 72 - seven shots ahead of Laura Murray (pictured above by Cal Carson Golf Agency, all rights reserved) who had a double bogey at the fourth and one birdie, at the 11th.
Great Britain led the men's team event and were in fourth place in the women's team competition.
