Katie Thomson is Kings
Links Golf Centre's
first female pro

PRESS RELEASE
The Kings Links Golf Centre has added a new dimension to its team of professionals with the appointment of its first female professional golfer.
Katie Thomson (23) will join fellow professionals Paul Girvan, Scott Henderson, Graeme Lornie, Steve Craig, Gary Lochhead and Howard Ferguson at the North-east’s leading golf driving range and Scotland’s largest independent golf retail outlet.
Inverurie-born Miss Thomson is delighted to be working alongside Girvan who was one of her instructors when she was just staring out at 13 years of age.
Before turning professional in 2006, Miss Thomson was playing off a five handicap and notched up a series of major championship successes including two times under-21 Girls County Champion, three times Kintore Golf Club Ladies Champion and the Aberdeenshire Ladies County Champion.
Commenting on her appointment, Miss Thomson, said: “I am really pleased to be joining Kings Links which has a great reputation and a fantastic team of professionals whom I have long admired.”
Paul Girvan, director of golf at The Kings Links Golf Centre, added: “Katie is a great golfer and an excellent coach. Ladies golf is rapidly increasing in the North-east and we already have a large female clientele. However there are women who prefer to be coached by another woman and Katie will help us expand this growing part of our customer base.
“Katie will also head up our Ladies Masters Golf programme, a six week group training course for women which is unique to Kinks Links.”
The Kings Links Golf Centre, situated on Golf Road, Aberdeen is the largest independent golf retail centre in Scotland and boasts a 56 bay floodlit driving range on two tiers with carpeted bays and the finest quality mats and range balls.
The award-winning 3000 sq ft superstore, stocks everything for the beginner to the seasoned golfer. Kings Links is operated by Craig Group Leisure, a division of global shipping and energy services firm, Craig Group.
