Vikki drops down field with a 76,
Melissa improves with a 65
Vikki Laing dropped from joint 11th to joint 56th after a third round of four-over-par 76 in the LPGA Tour Final Qualifying School at Daytona Beach, Florida.
The Musselburgh exile had been looking good with opening rounds of 71 and 70 but she wobbled on the third day. She is still well within the top 70 and ties to which the field will be reduced after Saturday's fourth and penultimate round but she will have had her sights set on a top-20 finish after her good start.
Melissa Reid (pictured right by Cal Carson Golf Agency) from Derby and Galway-born US Curtis Cup player Alison Walshe both shot low numbers to climb out of the danger zone for missing the fourth round cut.
Melissa showed her true form after earlier efforts of 79 and 74 with a seven-under-par 65 to end the third day in joint 68th place on two-over-par 218.
Alison did even better with a brilliant 64 after scores of 79 and 72. On 215, Walshe is sharing 31st place.
The leading European player after 54 holes is France's Sophie Giquel in seventh place on seven-under-par 209 with scores of 72, 68 and 69.
New leader Mollie Frankhauser has shot 67, 71 and 66 for 12-under-par 204, to lead by one from Japan's Shiho Oyama who had a third-day 71.
Michelle Wie is in joint third place on 206 with US Curtis Cup player Stacy Lewis. Michelle returned a 72 and Stacy a 71.
