ILGU Winterpros - Second round at

The Champions Club, Moyvalley

PRESS RELEASE ISSUED BY IRISH LADIES GOLF UNION
The second round of ILGU Winterpros take place at The Champions Club, Moyvalley, on January 17 and 18.
The initiative, launched by the ILGU to provide competitive golf for Ireland’s elite female athletes over the winter months, sees four players from each of the five districts play each other in a round-robin format.
While a sixth team from the students on Paddy Harrington Golf Scholarship at NUI Maynooth usually take part, they are unavailable for the upcoming January session to due college exams.
The Northern District and NUI Maynooth currently lead the championship with two wins each followed by the Midland and Southern Districts on a point apiece.
Meanwhile the Western and Eastern Districts have yet to get off the mark. This next sessions see the East play the Midland, the South play the West, the South play the North and the Midland play the West while the students sit out the series.
In addition to encouraging players to continue playing over the winter months, the initiative will aid Ireland’s top women golfers sharpen their game for the coming season. The third and final series of matches will take place next February.
