Benson, O'Callaghan, McKenna help
Southeastern Louisiana to team title
Graham Benson, from Leighton Buzzard, a 6ft 1in senior (fourth year) student at Southeastern Louisiana University, tied for fifth place on two-over-par 218 in the All-American Classic men's college tournament over the Traditions course at Cypresswood Golf Club in Spring, Texas.
Graham had rounds of 73, 74 and 71 oveer the long par-72 course, some 7,220yd.
He finished nine shots behind the winner Kent Bulle (Middle Tennessee) who had the great total of seven-under-par 209 with scores of 67, 69 and 73. He won by three from Ben Moser (Houston) who totalled 212 with scores of 74, 69 and 69.
Graham Benson's team-mates, Aaron O'Callaghan from Ireland and Fraser McKenna (pictured above), a freshman student from Glasgow, finished tied 14th and tied 19th respectively in a field of 71 players.
Aaron from Cork scored 74, 74 and 75 for 223 while the 6ft 3in Fraser scored 78, 71 and 75 for 224.
The efforts of Benson, O'Callaghan and McKenna all helped Southeastern Louisiana win the team event by a single shot, 874 to 875, over Middle Tennessee at the head of a field of 13 teams.
