Carly slumps to an 85 - no Scots
qualify for Spanish match-play
Curtis Cup teenager Carly Booth suffered a disastrous loss of form on the second day of the Spanish women's open amateur golf championship at Las Palmas on the Canary Island.
Carly, pictured right in Curtis Cup action, slumped from a creditable first-day 74 to a nightmare 85 in the second round. The 16-year-old Comrie player's total of 159 was eight shots too many for her to figure among the 32 qualifiers for the match-play stages.

She had three birdies, at the 11th, 16th and 17th but not enough to cancel out a quadruple bogey 8 at the 14th, a triple bogey 7 at the 12th, a double bogey 5 at the short third and single bogeys at the first, fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh, eighth, 15th and 18th in halves of 43 (eight over par) and 42 (six over par).
Kylie Walker (Buchanan Castle) and Emily Ogilvy (Auchterarder) also missed the cut. That means that Scotland has no active interest in the remainder of one of the women's golf calendar's most important early-season championships.
Kylie actually got closer than Carly to the cut-off mark of 151 with rounds of 78 and 77 for 155.
Emily Ogilvy (Auchterarder) was never going to make it after an opening round of 88 and she added an 89 to that for a total of 157.
England provided three of the match-play qualifiers behind No 1 seed Marieke Nivard (Netherlands), 68 and 71 for 139.
