Jodi Ewart only one shot behind
in Arizona Wildcat Invitational
Curtis Cup player Jodi Ewart from Yorkshire, a student at New Mexico University, has moved up to a share of third place, one shot behind the joint leaders, after two rounds of the 54-hole Arizona Wildcat Invitational women's college tournament at Peninsula Golf Club, Puerto Penasco in Mexico.
The Catterick Golf Club member, pictured right by Cal Carson Golf Agency, has had rounds of 72 and 71 for a one-under-par tally of 143 over the 6146yd, par-72 lay-out. On the same mark is the Spanish ace, Carlota Ciganda, who enrolled at Arizona State University in early January. Carlota has scored 74 and 69.
Setting the pace are Juliana Murcia (Arizona State) from Colombia and Germany's Pia Halbig (California). Juliana has had rounds of 67 and 75, Pia 69 and 73.
Former English girls champion Ellie Givens (Denver) is sharing 28th place in a field of 89 on 151 after scores of 73 and 78. Her Irish team-mate, Sarah Faller, is on 156 and joint 50th place after rounds of 74 and 82.
Scotland's Rebecca Watson (Tennessee) improved by 10 strokes with a second-round 74 for 158 and a share of 59th place.
Compatriot Roseanne Niven (California), the reigning British amateur stroke-play champion from Crieff Golf Club, had the misfortune to be disqualified for a first-round scorecard error, seemingly only discovered after she had posted a second-round 89.
