Spanish women's open amateur qualifying rounds

Curtis Cup player Carly Booth (Comrie) is sitting pretty as a contender for one of the 32 match-play places in the Spanish women's open amateur golf championship at Real Club de Golf de Las Palmas on Gran Canaria.
But Kylie Walker (Buchanan Castle) and Auchterarder's Emily Ogilvy have it all to do in the second qualifying round tomorrow.
Carly shot a three-over-par 74 which put her in joint 14th place, seven shots behind German pacemaker, Nicola Rossler, but the Perthshire 16-year-old, on leave from Glenalmond School, does not need to shoot the lights out at this stage of the competition.
Carly birdied the short eighth and two par-5s, the ninth and 18th in halves of 35 (level par) and 39 (three over).
She bogeyed the fourth, fifth, 10th, 11th, 13th and 15th.
After the first round there are 36 players with scores of 76 or better, including eight of them on 76. That suggests the qualifying cut-off for the match-play stages is going to be around the 152 mark.
Which means that Kylie Walker, in joint 47th position after a first-round 78, needs to get a lot nearer to the par of 71 at the second time of asking if she is going to make it through to the cut-and-thrust stages.
Kyle had three double-bogeys - at the par-4 seventh, the par-3 10th and the par-4 14th in halves of 37 and 41. She had one birdie, at the fifth and shed single shots to par at the sixth and 12th.
Emily Ogilvy's cause looks to be a lost one after a 17-over-par 88 which included a triple bogeys at the seventh and 16th, and double bogeys at the fourth and 11th with single shots dropped at the second, fifth, sixth, eighth, ninth, 13th, 14th, 15th and 17th in halves of 44 each way.
Emily is lying 95th in the field of 98.
Charlie Douglass (Brocket Hall), pictured above by Cal Carson Golf Agency, who won the two 36-hole events at the recent Hacienda del Alamo Women's Festival - the Murcia Ladies Open and the Hacienda del Alamo Ladies Open, continued in good form on Spanish courses.
The powerful left-hander shot a one-under-par 70, a score bettered only by three players.
Charlie birdied the first, fifth, 11th and 17th and dropped shots to par at the short eighth, the par-4 145th and the short 15th.
Ireland's Danielle McVeigh also well in the mix with a 71.
