Hawaii doing, Ami? Very well

with her first top 20 US finish

Ami Storey from Ponteland Golf Club, six miles northwest of Newcastle, is beginning to find her feet on the United States college golf circuit - and relishing trips to far away places such as Hawaii!
A freshman student at Kansas State University, young Ami, pictured right, has achieved her first top-20 finish in the States with a joint 17th final placing in a field of 53 for the Dr Donnis Thompson Invitational at Kaneohe Klipper Golf Club, Honolulu.
Over a 5,907, par-72 course, Ami started well but tired in hotter March temperatures than she is used to in her native North-east of England. She had rounds of 74, 77 and 81 for a total of 232.
Noticeable too that the scores of the first and second, Kayla Mortellaro (Idaho University) and Lauren Johnson (Texas A&M), both deteriorated. Their first-round scores were easily their best.
Mortellaro scored 69-75-75 for three-over 219, one ahead of Johnson with 71-76-73.
Texas A&M (907) won the team event ahead of Idaho (913) and Indiana (917) with Kansas State (924) finished sixth of 10.
So a great trip for Ami Storey. First time in Hawaii and first time in top 20.
