Eileen Manson heads Northern

Counties qualifiers at Nairn

Thurso's Eileen Manson, pictured right, headed the 16 match-play qualifiers on the first day of the Northern Counties women's golf championship at Nairn Golf Club today.
In windy conditions, Eileen's round of 79 - four over par and two over the CSS - was good enough to give her the No 1 seed position ahead of Pam MacKay (Royal Dornoch) and Christine McAndrew (Nairn Dunbar) who both returned 80s.
Pam gained the No 2 seed berth after a card countback.
Defending champion Cara Gruber (Royal Dornoch had an 81.
