Louise Kenney regains Fife title
Scotland international Louise Kenney (Pitreavie) regained the Fife women’s county championship at Kirkcaldy Golf Club today (Sunday). Schoolteacher Louise, the top seed, beat Scottish seniors match-play champion Lorna Bennett (Ladybank) 4 and 3 in the final which was a tight match until the closing holes when Kenney stretched her lead.
Kenney, pictured right by Cal Carson Golf Agency at last year's women's home internationals at Wrexham, was beaten at the 23rd in last year's final by Fiona Hastie (St Regulus), who had also been champion in 2007. Mrs Hastie's bid for a title hat-trick foundered at the 19th in Saturday's quarter-finals. The No 2 qualifier, Fiona was beaten by Diane Watson (Lundin Ladies) after being two up on the 17th tee. Fiona then lost the 17th and 18th to be pulled back to square and Watson won at the 19th.
