Nicola ties for NJCAA Women's Region

2 championship with Redlands team-mate

Essex girl Nicola Race tied with Redlands Community College, Oklahoma team-mate Andrea Kaelin for first place in the NJCAA Women's Region 2 championship at Crimson Creek, El Reno in Oklahoma.
Redlands CC, in fact, filled five of the first six places in the individual event. The odd one in was Lizi Sweetnam (Seminole State CC) from Leighton Buzzard. Lizi finished joint fifth on 166 with a pair of 83s.
Nicola Race, who is transferring to the University of Missouri after the summer break, had rounds of 76 and 73, exactly the same as Andrea Kaelin, also of Redlands CC. They finished three shots ahead of another Redlands player, Emily Kwat with 78 and 74.
Needless to say, Redlands simply ran away with the team title, finishing with a team score of 611 which was EIGHTY-ONE strokes ahead of runners-up Arkansas-For Smith. Now that's what we call a clear-cut victory margin!
