Peter Latimer scores third win
on US college circuit
Peter Latimer from Markinch, a junior (third-year) student at Guilford College, Greensboro, North Carolina, scored his first win of the 2008-2009 United States college golf season - and his third overall in the States - in this week's West Region Invitational tournament at the Terravista Golf Club, Austin in Texas.
Latimer, two ahead overnight after a pair of par-matching 72s, shot a 74 in Tuesday's final round and finished with a three-round total of 218, one stroke better than Mitchell Fedorka of the University of La Verne and Davis Dewald of the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor.
The Scot, pictured above, made 10 birdies over 54 holes for his third US college title. His birdie on the par-5 16th hole proved the difference as Fedorka and Dewald played the final three holes at even-par while Latimer was one under.
Guilford College (917) finished fourth in the team event behind winners La Verne University (897) with Redlands University (904) second and Texas & Tyler (912) third in a field of 14 teams.
LEADING FINAL TOTALS

218 Peter Latimer (Guilford College) 72 72 74.
219 Davis Dwarld (Mary Hardin-Baylor) 74 74 71, Mitchell Fedorka (La Verne) 73 74 72.
