RUSHFORD LEADING SCOT IN BRITISH

MEN'S UNIVERSITIES CHAMPIONSHIP


Stirling student Bobby Rushford was the leading Scot in sixth place in the British universities men's stroke-play golf championship which ended at Notts Golf Club today. Rushford had rounds of 76, 71, 75 and 74 for a total eight-over-par 296 - eight shots behind the title-winner, Ian Winstanley (Leeds University) who had two shots to spare from runner-up Andrew Palmer (Central Lancashire).
New Scottish universities champion James White (Stirling) came ninth on 299 with scores of 77, 72, 74 and 76.
