Sally Watson wins Boston play-off and

Gemma Dryburgh ties for seventh

Curtis Cup teenager Sally Watson produced a birdie at the first extra hole to win a play-off for the Under-18 girls' title in the Red Tail Open, an event on the Future Collegians World Tour, at Red Tail Golf Club near Boston, Massachusetts today (Sunday).
Sally, pictured right during the 2008 Curtis Cup match by Cal Carson Golf Agency, a 17-year-old resident student at the David Leadbetter/IMG Golf Academy at Bradenton, Florida, had rounds of 68 and 71 to tie at five-under-par 139 with Dottie Ardina (71-68) from Laguna in the Philippines.
Over the two rounds, Sally, whose parents now live at Earlsferry, Fife, had one eagle and seven birdies. Her eighth birdie came at the 37th hole - just when she needed it most!
A second Scot in the field, Gemma Dryburgh from Aberdeen, finish a creditable joint seventh in the interntional field with scores of 77 and 73 for 150. After birdieing the second, fourth and fifth in her second round, Gemma had a run of bogeys at the eighth, 11th, 12th and 13th or else she would have finished closer to the leaders.
Daughter of an Aberdeen businessman, Gemma is also a student atthe Leadbetter Academy and her golf has improved considerably over the past year.
+The United States Public Links championship will be held at the Red Tail Golf Club course during the summer ... look out for Sally Watson being in the field after showing how much she likes the course!
