University exams mean Pamela

has to turn down invitation

to play in LET's Swiss Open

Pamela Pretswell has had to turn down the opportunity to play in the Deutsche Bank Ladies’ Swiss Open next month. Winning the Swiss international women's amateur championship last August earned her an invitation to play in this event.

"It would have been my first professional tournament and I was looking forward to teeing up with the leading European ladies on tour - and with Krystle Caithness and Michele Thomson making their LET debuts in the event," said Pamela.

"So much so that I spent a few days in Portugal at the start of April to sharpen my game rather then defend the Scottish universities women's championship at Lossiemouth. Unfortunately, I've now found out that I have three university exams scheduled on two of the days of the tournament.

"So instead of golfing in Switzerland, I will be sitting my second-year Business Management exams at Glasgow University."

The silver lining for Pamela, pictured above by Cal Carson Golf Agency in action at last September's women's home internationals at Wrexham, is that for the first time she will be able to play in the Scottish women's amaeur championship at Southerness the following week.

Bothwell Castle Golf Club member Pamela will be 20 on May 6. She is one of six Scots in the Ladies Golf Union preliminary squad for GB&I's Vagliano Trophy match against the Continent of Europe at Hamburg on July 24 and 25.
