BILLINGHAM VICTORIOUS AT WEST LANCS

The Faldo Series continued its 2009 season with the third Faldo Series UK Championship, held at West Lancs Golf Club.
James Billingham, 18, from Leicester, was the overall winner of the tournament after carding a 36-hole total of four-over-par 148. Billingham held off the challenge from Andrew Palmer, a finalist last year, to win his age category and the tournament by one stroke.
As a result, Billingham has earned himself an invite to the Faldo Series Grand Final in Brazil later this year along with all of the age category winners at West Lancs.
Also remarkable were the efforts of 16 year-old Oliver Carr, who produced the low round of the tournament with a second round three under par 69, enough to guarantee his a seat on the plane to Brazil.
Billingham commented after his win: “I’m thrilled to be going to the Grand Final. Nick Faldo is a hero for me so I’m really looking forward to meeting him. I am extremely pleased with the consistency I have shown over the last two days. West Lancs was a tough test.”
