End of college season disappointment

for Post University's three Scots

Post University, New York State missed out on a place at the end-of-the-season national championships when they failed to to finish among the leading five teams at the NCAA Division 2 men's East/Atlantic Regional championships at The Resort at Glade Springs this week.
That meant major disappoint for the Scots in the team - Jamie Blake, a junior year student from Arbroath, David McGregor (son of former swimmer Bobby), a freshman from Helensburgh, and another freshman, Gavin Wilson from Ladybank.
Post University tied for eighth place on 946, 13 shots short of the fifth place team in a field of 20.
Emmanuel Charmat (Concord University) won the individual title with an eight-over-par total of 224 (77-70-77).
Jamie Black tied for 15th place on 231 (78-78-75).
David McGregor tied for 17th place on 232 (82-75-75).
Gavin Wilson tied for 59th place on 243 (84-78-81).
The total field was 108 players. It should be pointed out that the length of the course, 7084yd with a par of 72, was considerably longer than anything they had ever played before.
Meanwhile, in the NCAA Division 2 men's South/Southeast regional championships at Florence, Alabama, Kevin Duncan (Clayton State University) from Ellon, Aberdeenshire finished 105th in the individual event with scores of 89, 82 and 78 for 249.
Chris Carvill (Belmont Abbey) from Belfast tied for 85th place on 232 with scores of 76, 77 and 79.
Glasgow's Stephen Keane (Belmont Abbey) shared 89th place with scores of 79, 75 and 79 for 233.
Individual winner was Jake Greer (North Alabama) with scores of 68, 71 and 71 for six-under-par 210 over a length course of some 7,126yd.
Only the top five teams go forward to the national championships and Clayton State finished 16th of 20. Belmont Abbey also failed to advance.
