US Kids' Golf in East Lothian

A British girl and a boy from America produced the two outstanding performances on the second day of the US Kids Golf European Championships in East Lothian.
Playing in the girls' Under-9 years event, over the back nine at Kilspindie, Samantha Fuller shot a superb 29, an effort which, combined with an opening 38, gave her a ten-shot lead going into the final day.
Over at Luffness New, Frank Olav Garber, from Washington State, conjured up a 67 – 10 shots better than his first round – to open up a 10-shot lead in the boys' Under-13 years section.
Calum Hill from North Berwick was lying ninth in that event after a second-round 77 – four shots fewer than his opening effort. Still in the Under-13 group, Callum Cochrane was seven shots behind Hill on 165, with Duncan McLean a further three shots adrift.
English competitor Amelia Taylor, pictured above, looked to have the girls' Under-14 title in the bag, a second consecutive 82 over Gullane No 2 earning her a 10-shot lead with a round to go.
By contrast, the race for the boys' Under-14 title is a lot closer. Navjosh Dhallu, also from the England, leads by one from Jake Shearpoint, with first-round leader Aaron Rai a further shot back.
Reflecting the cosmopolitan entry, players from Thailand, Guatemala, Italy and the Phillipines were leading some of the other categories.
