SAM MATTON OFF TO BRAZIL AFTER FALDO

SERIES VICTORY AT VALE OF GLAMORGAN

NEWS RELEASE
Sam Matton of Swindon overcame treacherous weather conditions to shoot a two-round total of 152 and win the Faldo Series UK Championship at The Vale of Glamorgan’s Wales National Golf Course by four strokes.
Supported by The R&A, the European Tour and the PGA, the sixth UK Championship of the year featured some exceptionally challenging weather, reflected by Matton’s winning six-over-par total with rounds of 74 and 78, but the 21-year-old best coped with the conditions to achieve his well-deserved victory against some of the best young golfing talent from the region.
In his fifth year as a member of the Faldo Series, Matton will now travel to this year’s Faldo Series Grand Final in Brazil for the first time, together with the four other age-category winners from The Vale of Glamorgan. Nick Faldo will host his thirteenth Grand Final at Itanhanga Golf Club in Rio de Janeiro on 28 – 30 October, giving all participants the opportunity to meet and draw inspiration from the six-time Major winner.
